New Orleans, LA (February 18, 2014) – Grab your clubs to help children find their forever families.  Volunteers of America Greater New Orleans’ GolfStar Classic tees off Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at TPC Louisiana, marking two decades of essential fundraising for the organization’s adoption program.  New to the classic this year is the opportunity for golfers and non-golfers alike to win a 2014 Mercedes CLA 250; drawing to be held during the event.

“This tournament is a highlight for me and many others who keep coming back year after year,” said Jim LeBlanc, President and CEO of Volunteers of America Greater New Orleans. “It is a joyous moment when we can help unite an adoptive family with the child they have so desperately longed for, and this tournament makes moments like that possible.”

The adoption program, one of Volunteers of America’s oldest programs, has created loving families for many decades.  Last year, Volunteers of America placed more than 15 infants with forever families.  The GolfStar Classic is the sole fundraiser benefiting the adoption program and has gained a reputation as a leading regional charity tournament across southeast Louisiana.

Registration is available for individual players, foursomes, sponsors and volunteers at www.voagno.org.  Registration fees for the GolfStar Classic include cart rental, greens fee, lunch and dinner, a golf shirt, a silent auction and prizes.  Raffle tickets to win a 2014 Mercedes CLA 250 are available for $50 at www.voagno.org or by calling Vickie Laurato at (504) 486-8662.  Only 1,500 tickets will be sold and winner need not be present to claim prize.  All proceeds from the tournament and raffle will benefit the adoption program.
Event sponsors include presenting sponsor Wendy’s, along with Fore!Kids Foundation, TPC Louisiana, and Mercedes-Benz of New Orleans.
