Retired and Senior Volunteer Program

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) offers seniors a variety of community service opportunities.

This AmeriCorps Seniors Program offers volunteers age 55 and older the opportunity to use their skills and life experiences to help meet critical needs across St. Tammany Parish. Volunteers are needed for tutoring, helping at the hospital or taking seniors to doctor’s appointments. Volunteers work at their own pace. Some volunteers put in countless hours at a daily volunteer job, while others work special events as their schedule allows.

This past year, our more than 400 RSVP volunteers provided St. Tammany Parish with 14,000+ hours of service.

Our RSVP program is very unique in that we place our volunteers at local non-profits and healthcare facilities across St. Tammany Parish. Serving as a One-Stop Volunteer Site, individuals interested in volunteering can learn about the wide array of volunteer opportunities during their meeting with the RSVP Director.

For more information, contact Kristen Punch at (985) 612-1057 or at kpunch@voasela.org.

RSVP In Action

Volunteering is an excellent way for seniors to stay active or take on an “encore career,” while learning new skills.

RSVP Volunteer Recognized

Our own RSVP volunteer Ed received the President’s Volunteer Service Award for Lifetime Achievement from Michael Smith, the CEO of AmeriCorps, and Atalaya Sergi, the AmeriCorps Seniors National Director! This is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a volunteer, and we are thrilled that Ed was recognized!

Congratulations, Mabel!

We are so proud of our RSVP volunteer Mabel! She’s been recognized for her outstanding contribution to the community by the Northshore Food Bank with the Frank St. Romain Standout Service Volunteer Award.
