Serving Those Who Served

Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana Teams Up with 2024 ART Conference for Veterans Community Project

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New Orleans, LA – April 10, 2024 – Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana is proud to announce its collaboration with the 2024 ART (Accessories Resource Team) Conference in New Orleans. The focus of this partnership will be the Napoleon Ave and Pitt Street Veterans Facilities, operated by Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana. This initiative underscores our ongoing commitment to serving veterans in need within our community. The ART community service project will be held at our two Veterans facilities (Oscar J. Tholmas Veteran Center) on May 9th, 2024.

During the ART Conference, volunteers will join hands to enhance living quarters and outdoor communal spaces at our facilities. We are grateful for the support of local and national home industry companies who will be donating furnishings to upgrade our Veterans facility’s interiors and replace any damaged items.

Our Veterans Services program is dedicated to providing transitional housing and rehabilitation services to homeless male veterans referred by the Veterans Administration in Greater New Orleans. At our facilities on Napoleon Avenue and Pitt Street, veterans receive essential therapy to address substance abuse, acquire job skills, and improve mental health. Additionally, they have access to housing and a comprehensive range of rehabilitation services.

Our program goes beyond temporary shelter. Over 24 months, veterans benefit from intensive case management, support services, and personalized treatment plans. Our staff works closely with each veteran to develop a tailored strategy for rebuilding their lives. As veterans stabilize, they are encouraged to save a portion of their income, establishing a financial cushion to aid their transition into permanent housing.

“We are excited to partner with the ART Conference for this community project,” said Voris Vigee, CEO and President at Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana. “Together, we are making a meaningful difference in the lives of our veterans, providing them with the support and resources they need to thrive.”
